Kitchen Confidential, and a Beautiful Knife
My favourite book last year was Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. Recommended by my friend Jenney from Buzzfeed's Books to read in your 20's (or 30's *ahem*). It's a brilliant read. He tells cracking stories about his early career working in restaurants in New York. Especially fascinating if you've ever worked in a restaurant.
Because I'm easily influenced I went straight out and bought his holy-grail knife recommendation - the one and only knife you will ever need in your life etc etc.. It's from the Global brand, 18 inch, stainless steel, very lightweight, with a handle that's comfortable to use. She's a beaut. It's also lethal, and I'm a little scared of it. But if you're looking for one knife that will last, and works for almost everything in the kitchen I'd certainly recommend it. I was such a fan I bought it for my Dad and Uncle for Christmas.
