Some Like It What?

I called this blog Some Like It Hot after my family's fast food business in Drumcondra (1984-2013). Growing up, I worked there on weekends and summers for pocket money and all the burgers & chips I could eat. The location beside Croke Park meant it was a hotspot (literally) on the Sunday match days.

We pioneered the ‘Donor in a Box’. Donor Kebab meat, salad and sauces in a silver take-away box eaten with a plastic fork. We made the best Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Dublin. Quarter pound of Irish beef, mayo and shredded iceberg on the bottom bun, ketchup and raw chopped onion on top, snuggled together in a lightly toasted bun, wrapped in silver foil. Chips and Coke on the side.

Unfortunately the recession hit Dublin and Some Like It Hot closed in 2013. This blog is my way of keeping the name and food-lovin’ spirit alive. Working at Some Like It Hot was my introduction to working with food. Food is where my heart is, and what I hope to get back to someday. Currently living in San Francisco, I'm lucky to get to experience all the fantastic food this city has to offer. I'll share my favourite recipes and food-related chat on this blog. Hope you enjoy.
