May and June
After a gung-ho start to the blog in April it's been a quiet couple of months. Work travel, fun travel and visitors kept me busy, and struggling with some of the techy aspects of the blog put me off for a while. But with the help of Google Helpouts I've managed to fix the domain name and understand a bit more about Blogger templates so that I can link to social media etc. Which I do hope to do some day.
No recipes in this post, just some pictures to share from the last few weeks. My folks came to visit in May for 2 weeks and loved San Francisco as much as I do.
They were here for the annual Mexican celebration of Cinco de Mayo so we headed down to the Mission to stroll around and check out the food stalls and performances. There was singing and dancing from different regions of Mexico and a brilliant Mariachi boy singer of about 9 or 10, whose performance was hilariously interrupted by a merry lady who came up on stage to dance with him, before she was escorted off by Security. Meanwhile he carried on singing and didn't even bat an eyelid!

We drove down the Pacific Coast Highway, staying in Carmel and Santa Barbara for a few nights. Highlight for the parents was the stop for lunch at Pebble Beach Gold Course, with some low moments as my Dad and I took turns driving the epic Big Sur, with epic hangovers from the previous night in Carmel.

Dad and I taking a break from the driving. I'll get back to some more cooking soon and get some more recipes up. In the meantime, here's to a great 2nd half of 2014!
